Musings

Of the Stars & Sea followed Captain Rowenya, a 36-year-old pirate indebted to an asshat for the last 20 years. She inherited her father’s debts at 16 and was forced to become a bounty hunter to steal back the treasures that other pirates had seized from the wealthy. In doing so, she broke the Pirate’s Code, making her and her crew outcasts.

After getting her latest assignment, she was forced onto the ship of the brutal and fearsome Pirate Lord and Captain, Grayson Tyde. Gray immediately took a liking to Ro and needed her knowledge of the old language to find the lost treasure of the God Thaetos.

As they follow the riddle inscribed on the key, the couple and Grayson’s crew endure brutal enemies trailing behind them, sea monsters, and rocky terrain to get to where the treasure lies. On top of that, both captains have their own hidden agendas for discovering this coveted prize.

Finale

Coda

I found Of the Stars & Sea to be a diamond in a haystack. It was a refreshing fantasy read, as it deviated from the fae hype and delved into the world of pirates and treasure hunting. I loved the romance and banter! I was kicking my feet at times. The worldbuilding was moderately immersive, the characters were well-developed and relatable, and the writing style was easy to follow. I loved this read and cannot wait until the sequel! Which hasn’t been released yet…

Have you read Of the Stars & Sea? What were your thoughts? Who do you think Grayson’s parents are? What about how Rowenya got her scars, or who her mother was? Leave your thoughts below!
